STEINERT KSS EVO 6.0 Mining Documentary & Content Production

Project Overview

STEINERT commissioned Unbreakable Media to document the installation and operation of its new KSS EVO 6.0 sorting system at Navachab Gold Mine in Namibia.

The aim was to create more than a visually strong mining film. The documentary needed to explain how the technology works, why it matters to the mine and how sensor-based sorting can help process lower-grade ore more efficiently.

Our team filmed on location in Namibia over four days, capturing the mine, sorting plant, machinery, interviews, detailed operational footage and aerial views of the site.

The Client's Need

The technology behind the STEINERT KSS EVO 6.0 is highly specialised. STEINERT needed a film that could communicate the technical process clearly without losing the human story behind the project.

The content needed to:

• Explain the purpose and operation of the sorting system
• Show the machinery working within the active mining environment
• Communicate technical information in an accessible way
• Capture the experience of the people responsible for the project
• Support international marketing and industry communication
• Provide additional content for social media and future use

Our Approach

Close collaboration on location was an important part of this production.

STEINERT Global Marketing Director Michaela Kessemeier attended the filming, while John Knouwds, STEINERT's Solutions Manager for Mining, guided us through the site and helped unpack the technology and its significance.

As we filmed, we developed a deeper understanding of the operation, the relationship between STEINERT and Navachab Gold Mine, and the long-term thinking behind the installation. This allowed us to make informed creative decisions and build the story during production rather than relying only on instructions during the edit.

Making Complex Mining Technology Easier to Understand

The main documentary combines interviews, mining footage, drone visuals, subtitles and clean motion graphics.

Wide aerial footage establishes the scale of the mine and sorting plant, while detailed coverage shows the conveyor systems, sensors, valve bank, maintenance access and sorting process.

Motion graphics and visual annotations were used to explain:

• Infeed and sorted material
• Low-grade stockpile processing
• Sensor-based ore identification
• The STEINERT Intelligent.Declustering system
• Maintenance and accessibility improvements
• The movement of material through the sorting process

The technical information remained central, but the film also highlighted the knowledge, collaboration and long-term relationships behind the technology.

Deliverables

The production created a flexible library of video and photographic content for different platforms and audiences:

• One approximately five-minute mining documentary
• Interviews and operational mining footage
• Drone filming of the mine and sorting plant
• Motion graphics and technical annotations
• English subtitles
• One complete documentary with Russian subtitles, using the client-supplied translation
• One 30-second Intelligent.Declustering video in landscape and vertical formats
• Two vertical teaser reels with different editorial focuses
• Two raw interview files
• Full interview transcripts
• 235 edited photographs

This gave STEINERT a complete set of assets for its website, presentations, social media, industry communication and future marketing.

The Outcome

The completed documentary was published as part of STEINERT's official Navachab Gold Mine project story and helped communicate the value of the installation to a wider international mining audience.

STEINERT reported strong awareness around the Navachab project within the mining industry. In February 2026, STEINERT Dry Sorting received the Technology & Innovation Award at the inaugural Mine, Wine & Dine Gala in Cape Town.

While the award primarily recognised the technology and the people responsible for its implementation, the client also acknowledged the contribution made by the film in explaining the project and making the solution visible.
