Two daily conference highlight videos and a full event film produced across a fast-moving mobility summit, exhibition and electric vehicle experience in Pretoria.
The project
The inaugural Smarter Mobility Africa Summit took place on 1–2 October 2019 at the Sun Arena at Time Square in Pretoria.
The summit brought together leaders from government, business, transport and the automotive industry to explore electric vehicles, intelligent transport, rapid urbanisation and the future of sustainable mobility across Africa.
Unbreakable Media was commissioned by EVRT Africa, through OneStop Group, to provide conference video production and rapid-turnaround content from the two-day event.

More than a single-stage conference
This was not an event that could be covered effectively by simply placing a camera in the main conference room. The programme included plenary sessions, panel discussions, concurrent content, delegate interviews, exhibition activity, electric vehicle displays and an outdoor test-drive course. Filming also needed to continue while the daily footage was being reviewed and edited for social sharing.
The production plan therefore had to balance two different priorities: immediate daily content that could be shared while the summit was still taking place, and a broader collection of footage and interviews for the final event highlight film.
A flexible conference coverage plan
A dedicated interview area was created for conversations with delegates, speakers and mobility industry representatives. This provided a consistent, branded setting and clean interview sound while the rest of the event continued around it. A roaming videographer covered the conference atmosphere, speakers, panel discussions, exhibition activity and interactions between delegates.
The electric vehicle experience required an additional approach. Vehicles were filmed throughout the exhibition, on the outdoor test-drive course and from inside the cars to capture participant reactions during the experience. This gave the finished films a stronger sense of participation and movement, rather than relying only on conventional conference footage.
Onsite editing for daily delivery
An onsite editor worked alongside the production team to turn the incoming footage into daily conference highlight videos. Regular check-ins with the client helped ensure that the films remained aligned with the event branding and reflected the most important activities from each day.
The daily edits combined conference speakers and panel discussions, delegate and industry interviews, electric vehicle displays, exhibition activity, test-drive footage and participant reactions, and the networking and event atmosphere. Despite the fast turnaround, the daily films were approached as complete event stories rather than disposable social media clips.
Creating immediate and long-term content
The two daily highlight videos gave the organisers polished content to share while conversations around the summit were still current. A longer full event highlight film was then created to bring the complete summit experience together, providing a more lasting record of the conference, its subject matter and the electric vehicle activations. This combination allowed the same production to support both immediate communication and longer-term event marketing.
The result
The client was particularly impressed by the speed of the onsite editing and the quality of the completed work.
The project also demonstrated why conference video planning needs to follow the actual programme and content priorities — not simply the duration of the event. When plenary sessions, interviews, exhibitions and activations happen simultaneously, the right coverage plan protects the content that will remain valuable after the venue has closed.
